National Register of Historic Places for Syracuse, New York

 

Syracuse, New York lies in the confines of Onondaga County. It was once inhabited by the Iroquois and Mohawk Indians. Pierre Esprit Radisson developed a settlement here sometime in the 1600s.

 

The Erie Canal was opened during 1825.

 

Among Syracuse’s businesses are Penn Traffic Company, Magna International, Niagara Mohawk, Oneida Nation and Lockheed Martin Corporation.

 

People associated with Syracuse, New York are Mark Magnus, Rory Cochrane,  Dave Mirra, Rod Sterling and Bobcat Goldthwait. Syracuse was the setting for Snow Day and Blowin’ Smoke movies.

 

Syracuse celebrates the New York State Fair, the Empire State Brewing and Music Festival, Coors Light Balloon Fest and Oktoberfest.
